Our Facilities
As the only academic medical center serving Orange County’s diverse population of over 3 million people, UCI is uniquely positioned to advance medicine through leading-edge research and clinical trials. In close collaboration with the UCI Medical Center and the UCI School of Medicine, the UCI Center for Clinical Research (CCR) has direct access to world renowned scientists studying a full spectrum of diseases, ranging from allergy to neurological disorders to visual impairment. CCR has offices at both the UCI Medical Center in Orange and the UCI campus in Irvine.
Clinical Space
The UCI Center for Clinical Research (CCR) has three clinical research spaces, specifically dedicated to clinical trial work, and having a combined area of 13,000 square feet. The facilities are located at the UCI Medical Center (UCIMC) in Orange and at the UCI School of Medicine campus in Irvine. The clinics integrate research, prevention, and the most advanced diagnostics, as well as treatment and rehabilitation programs to provide the best possible care for patients and their families.
The Center for Innovative Health Therapies located at the center of the UCIMC campus across from the main hospital and next to the new outpatient imaging center, is the newest addition opened in early 2022. This custom designed and self-contained clinical research space of approximately 5,000 square feet consists of a waiting and reception area, 6 nursing stations, 3 consultation / interview rooms, 2 examination / procedures rooms, 6 treatment / infusion rooms, a 2-station phlebotomy area, 2 medical preparation / clean rooms, laboratory processing room. The facility has temperature monitored refrigeration, -20C freezers, large -80C freezer, along with liquid nitrogen storage. All areas are digitally integrated into the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system with all vital signs, height, weight, and electrocardiogram readings being ported directly into EMR for review and retrieval. This state-of-the-art clinical research unit supplements the existing clinical research space at UCIMC, which has an additional 6 treatment / infusion rooms, a consultation room, and a phlebotomy area. This clinic space was recently upgraded with mobile EMR input stations to minimize the need for paper charts.
The CCR clinical research space at the UCI School of Medicine campus in Hewitt Hall, has 4 treatment / infusion rooms, and 3 consultation rooms that was also upgraded with the installation of a mobile Epic EMR system.

Administrative Space
CCR has two administrative office locations, Chapman Pavilion, located in Orange and, Irvine Hall, located in Irvine.
Chapman Pavilion is home to the majority of our Assistant/Clinical Research Coordinators and is a short walk to the UCI Medical Center Campus and Douglas Hospital. Many UCI School of Medicine departments also have their administrative offices located here or across the way at Manchester Pavilion making in-person collaboration very convenient.
Irvine Hall serves as on-site working space for our primarily administrative teams within the Finance and Business & Technology units. This group of hybrid staff co-locate in person once or twice a week.
UCI Health Locations
In addition to our dedicated clinic spaces above, CCR study participants are also seen at most UCI Health Locations where patients are seen.
